WebMore design

This page is incomplete, it is here so that we can scribble what comes to our minds.

Socks
Position and size of unexpanded bubbles should visually reflect the size of a particular subtree. However, rendering all comments into unexpanded bubbles, even subcomments, would make the frontpage hugely overpopulated for popular articles.

Hence we introduce the idea of socks: subtrees of comments become linearized, and rendered as a series of bubbles with shortening lengths. The series of bubbles behaves as one bubble, however, visually it shows that there is a thread. When clicking onto any part, only the first expands.

Because the goal is to show that here is a thread, we show bubbles shortened to extremity if there are many. That means, at the end of a sock we can have bubbles with no text in them, just showing they exist. Still, we need to contain the length of socks, so we don't create empty bubbles for 106 comments, just for a finite number (under 10?).
